Abstract
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is a voluntary organization of independent states that helps member nations strengthen their economic presence in the global petroleum market. Ab Ova ad Malum is a senior project that attempts to draw connections between the organization OPEC and a broad selection of political and economic thought. It utilizes material covered in several courses offered at New College of Florida. The project is made up of a collection of essays representing topics beginning with political theory, then moves to organizational theory and ends with behavioral economics. Ab Ova ad Malum findsits evidence in the development of OPEC from the organizations creation through the late 1970s. Throughout the project connections are drawn between ideas of property, government, organizations, game theory, and the organization OPEC.
