Abstract

This paper explores the role of non-traditional medical spaces within the healthcare system, with a focus on their increased use after the COVID-19 pandemic. These spaces are primarily utilized for vulnerable populations and have become an important tool for alleviating the burden placed on the traditional medical settings. The study consists of three chapters that delve into different aspects of non-traditional medical spaces. Chapter One examines the creation of these spaces through meaning-making, while Chapter Two explores how community is formed within them through education, networking, and celebration. The Third Chapter investigates the structural issues affecting non-traditional medical spaces and the need for reform. The paper argues that community is established within non-traditional medical spaces which enables grassroots advocacy to occur to reform health policy.
