Abstract
In this thesis I examine the construction and content of abortion narratives, using excerpts of audio and text narratives from websites aimed at collecting people’s abortion stories in the United States. I argue that the current dichotomy between “Pro-Choice” and “Pro-Life” ideology does not reflect the multi-vocal and contradictory nature of lived and then narrated experience. I explore the intersections of politics, intimacy, and meaning in people’s personal narratives, contributing to a more nuanced approach in the rhetoric and politics of reproductive choice.
