Abstract
This paper evaluates 21 microfinance institutions in Bolivia based on original criteria for growth, profitability, and business strategy. By establishing a measure of each firm, s sustainability and determining its general focus, I attempt to form a representative example of the entire microfinance industry. This aggregate data pool is important because it allows us to observe trends within the industry and compare them to national data, forming a reference point from which we can begin to investigate important questions about the effects and implications of microfinance in Bolivia.
