Abstract

Sound has known to be an abstract phenomenon for many years and it is perceived only through one sensory mode: hearing. Sound is always present in any environment or performance. All environments and performances engage both the visual and aural attention no matter the form of art. This is because we want to see the source of sound, such as, the spinning vinyl record, or the mouth of a person that is talking. Sound is very detached from our senses so much that people have a tendency to use the eyes to help understand what the sound means. Through various installations and performances, this project strives to connect sound (the fundamental element of music) and light (the fundamental element of visual arts) to enrich our awareness of sound's physical and visual existence.
