Abstract

This thesis took the form of a project made up of five thematically linked papers written previously for different classes and one Independent Study Project. The papers were revised by the author with the aid of the professors for whom they were originally written. The five papers explore different ways of looking at foreign policy events and they seek to take the best explanatory perspective so as to uncover their underlying causes. By doing this, it is hoped that a broader and deeper understanding of these types of events can be achieved. This is also an exploration of some of the different tools available for ordering events that might seem chaotic at first glance. This project also stands as a reflection on the work I have done since I began studying at New College.
