Abstract
Item response theory (IRT) is a type of analysis that may be used to acquire a superior understanding of student aptitude when applied to competency examinations. In addition to the completion of this thesis paper, a web application was created to allow professors to design and create tests, test students, and run IRT analyses on student results. This thesis will provide a description of the final product, summarize the overall design of the web application, and review concepts of item response theory.
