Abstract
This thesis explores how software design concepts and implementation are unique when developing for public health organizations by developing an app for a local public health organization in Sarasota, Florida called The Multicultural Health Institute (MHI). In practice, public health organizations focus primarily on community trust building to foster widespread use of public health interventions. With this model in mind, and with feedback from MHI key staff and “Community Safekeepers”, an Android app was developed that allows users to access public health resources from different sources all in one screen, including content published by MHI related to public health issues and local events.
