Abstract

In this thesis I explore the importance of summer camping to the American Jewish community. I draw upon my own personal experiences at Habonim Dror Camp Tavor in Michigan, as well as exploring the history of American Jewish summer camping. Through a thick description of Habonim Dror Camp Tavor I provide insight on gender dynamics in the American Jewish summer camp community, as well as the impact of summer camps on Jewish peoplehood.
