Abstract
This thesis is the written documentation of a short film written, directed and produced by myself during the coronavirus pandemic of 2021. This thesis details the entire process involved with the creation of film from conception to release. The first chapter examines the pre-production of filmmaking, involving the writing on a script, drafting the first shot list, recruiting a film crew to work the set and casting the actors needed for the roles. The next chapter chronicles the filming process itself, day by day, explaining why decisions were made and how the film was shot and any potential conflicts that arose. The succeeding chapter discusses the editing process, the final stage the film must go through, and the typical process in which a film is polished and edited. The final chapter reflects on the project as a whole, delving into the successes and failures I encountered along the way and how I can improve my craft in the future. A detailed appendix containing the documentation of this project including the script, shot list, schedule and photos, can be found after the concluding remarks of this thesis.
