Abstract
This thesis will try to integrate multiple disciplines in order to explore, discuss, and create between Computer Science and Performance Studies. Throughout the thesis I touch on fashion as a subject of academia, not just as an aspect of Performance Studies. More specifically, I focus on its role in self-expression and personal philosophy. This project also aims to show how through the use of Computer Science I have been able to develop a tool to support those who create clothing and fashion. The more experience a sewer has, the more depth of knowledge and intuition they acquire. A large barrier to becoming a sewer is the perception of gained experience. My approach to mitigating this problem is to create a mobile application that will allow inexperienced sewers to gauge measurements and needed fabric more accurately. This tool would offer assistance in the hope that they may overcome their lack of experience, and encourage them to become more confident in their abilities in the future. For an experienced sewer, it is the hope that they will be able to attempt creating more complex or unusual projects. Ultimately, this thesis hopes to expand on fashion as a part of academia and offer another tool to help sewers of every experience level begin or further their clothing journey.
