Abstract
This study builds off previous academic research regarding understanding how founders should pitch investors. Specifically I will focus on the different sentiments that founders should and should not be using in order to get the best funding score. To calculate funding score, I will be calculating the average amount of funding that other companies who are in the same industry vertical and same founding round as them according to Crunchbase; I will then use percent deviation to calculate a letter grade for each funding score. I was able to find that female founders are only benefited if they have joyful sentiment, while male founders should stray away from showing sadness. The information from my research will allow founders to better understand how they should pitch venture capitalist, as well as let venture capitalist understand that they may hold internal biases that prevent them from investing in certain founders.
