Abstract
A model of the hemocyanin active site has been the subject of research for several years. A model made with a tris-imidazole complex has yet to be synthesized. The over-reactive hydroxyl group on the tris-(4(5)-imidazolyl) carbinol hydrochloride salt impeded the progress towards the synthesis of the active site. The goal of this work was to replace the hydroxyl group on the tris-(4(5)-imidazolyl) carbinol hydrochloride salt with a hydrogen. By following the work of others, several routes were explored. While none of the routes were successful, the survey obtained information that will aid future work.
