Abstract
In the case of blogs, it was found that activists attempted to vet potential candidates throughout the election, although it was not clear whether these blogs were part of the political establishment or a genuine grassroots attempt to influence the nomination process. In the case of candidate Web sites, it was found that the desires of the candidates to control their respective messages and protect them from outside influence limited the ways that the sites were designed, specifically in regard to ties to outside sources and interactivity between users.
