Abstract
This Thesis paper is the culmination of my education and life experiences at New College. The majority of this document is a play I have written entitled Immediate Attention. This drama concerns four New College characters undertaking the complex and difficult journey into adulthood, accompanied by the interpretation and guidance of four archetypal narrators. The remainder of this thesis is devoted to a discussion of the play and its influences. Part 1 places the play in the context of Western Theatre. Part 3 reports my experience of work shopping consecutive drafts of the play. Part 4 compares Immediate Attention to two plays of major influence: W;t and Blue Surge.
