Abstract
Rispoli (1994, 1998b) has put forth two hypotheses explaining children's pronoun case error in English: the phonetic core hypothesis and the double cell effect hypothesis. These both explain pronoun case error in English, but may compete in different languages because of different pronoun paradigms. The current study examined Russian transcripts from the CHILDES database and found that pronoun case error was extremely rare and did not occur in the predicted patterns. Case error consisted of only 12 instances in 1,499 pronoun uses. Schtze and Wexler's (1996) ATOM model more accurately accounted for the patterns of case error.
