Abstract
This project focuses on 'total' installation, as defined by artist Ilya Kabakov, and the process and exhibition of my own installation, * . * **was a 'total' installation based on a narrative component present in much of Kabakov's work. I designed and constructed an original character's living space in my advanced studio on New College's campus. * **** surrounded the viewer by art in an unfamiliar setting, encouraged interaction between viewer and art, and subverted language by replacing all text with a set of coded symbols.
