Abstract

Photographs and Fiction seeks to determine the philosophy and psychology of photography in five realms: Chapter 1 presents the impact of photography on the human psyche. Chapter 2 discusses misinterpretations about the nature of photography. Chapter 3 looks at the birth of photography, as well as the controversy of accepting creative photography as an art. Chapter 4 seeks to understand the problems and benefits of the languages of image and word. Chapter 5 explores syntax in photographs, paying special mind to photography as fiction. Photographs and Fiction concludes with a creative response by the author, entitled sounds cat make. Sounds cats make is a photographically illustrated story, and Chapter 6 discusses the intent behind the piece.
