Abstract
Ovid's satirical style and his unfamiliar use of myth are visually inspiring. While studying his Metamorphoses in Latin, I was overcome with his detail and emotion. Certain myths seemed to demand attention, and hence a photographic interpretation was created. Within this text there are chapters on art movements and contemporary photographers that use mythology as inspiration. Ovid's Metamorphoses, of course, is the theme and motivation, thus I talk about how Ovid influenced my art with his different techniques. I have translated the particular mythological episodes that inspired each series from the original Latin text. The Latin is included along with the English, and the photographs and their commentary accompany these translations.
